Drawing workshops and classes for children
Drawing, painting and clay classes for children or families. Can be done as a one-day activity, or a long yearly program.
Each class includes a presentation with technical explanations and examples of the artworks.
In Japanese or English.

Creative freedom is very important for me.
I'll help you as much as I can to make what you want to, but I won't tell you what to draw or what style to choose.

The following artworks were made by the students of Tokyo Community School in 2017-2018.
Printing and stencil art
One or two-days program.
Printing with everyday objects (vegetables, fruits, forks, batteries and other household objects). Creating repeated patterns with printing, if time allows - creating an illustration with printed textures.
Stencil art and cut-outs: children learn to think in terms of negative form. Every desired object is drawn, cut-out and then filled with paint. Main objects of the final work have to be done in stencil technique, small details can be drawn on the final steps.
Collage
Collage illustration, usually done with a free subject. Various kinds of colored and textured paper, cloth, tissue paper and other materials to choose from.
Replica
Workshop for children aged 9-14. After a short introduction lecture on biography and style of several famous painters, each child choses a picture she wants to work with. Study starts with a simple pencil sketch, and then a color sketch of the chosen painting. Then the final work is produced.
There's no need to replicate the original with photographic quality, this workshop is about trying to understand the thinking of well-known painters, not about mechanical copying.
Still life painting
Workshop for children of all ages, or adults.
A painting of a simple still life, with lecture on possible styles and approaches, pencil sketching and finally a color painting.
Clay sculpture
Workshop on clay sculpture, suitable for all ages.
Usually done with animals, but subject can be varied.
Before we get to work, we analyse strength and balance of a sculpture and decide, whether we need a wire to strengthen thin parts of the work; how do we make our work stand and not to fall down.
Color is added on the final stage.
